Trying my best to be positive..but have come across one mayor issue – soundproofing. Or rather the lack of it. Between the different rooms you can clearly here the film being played next door. Specially annoying when you are in a tense moment during “your” film..and next door belters out some happy-go-lucky music score. To me it matters enough to not come back.

Frequently asked questions about cinemas in Malaga

What are the most popular cinemas in Malaga?

Several cinemas are consistently popular with locals and tourists alike. Cinesur Yelamos is a large, modern complex with numerous screens. Multicine Miramar is another well-regarded option, known for its comfortable seating and diverse film selection. Auditorio Ciudad de Malaga, while primarily a performance venue, occasionally screens films and offers a unique cinema experience. Palacio de Condes de Guadalhorce has also been known to host film screenings.

What types of films are typically shown?

Malaga cinemas generally show a mix of mainstream Hollywood blockbusters, independent films, and international productions. Many also show Spanish-language films. The availability of films in English with subtitles varies by cinema and screening time. Checking the cinema's website or schedule is the best way to determine what's playing.

Are there cinemas that show films in English?

Yes, several cinemas in Malaga occasionally screen films in English with Spanish subtitles. Cinesur Yelamos is a reliable option for finding such screenings. Multicine Miramar also sometimes offers English-language films. It’s vital to check the specific cinema’s website or screening schedule as it is not a guaranteed daily occurrence.

What are the typical ticket prices?

Ticket prices vary depending on the cinema, time of day, and day of the week. Weekday matinees are usually the most affordable, while evening and weekend screenings are generally more expensive. Expect to pay somewhere between €8 and €15 per ticket on average. Discounts may be available for students or seniors.

What is the best time to go to avoid crowds?

To avoid the largest crowds, consider attending weekday matinees. These screenings are typically less popular than evening or weekend showings. Avoiding peak hours like Saturday evenings is also recommended. Arriving early ensures you get good seats.

    Do cinemas offer discounts?

Many cinemas offer a variety of discounts. These may include discounts for students, seniors, or groups. Loyalty programs may also be available, offering reduced ticket prices or other perks. Checking the cinema’s website or box office for details is recommended.

What is the accessibility situation like at Malaga cinemas?

Most modern cinemas in Malaga are designed with accessibility in mind. This typically includes ramps for wheelchair access, accessible restrooms, and designated seating areas. It’s advisable to contact the cinema directly beforehand to confirm accessibility features and ensure your specific needs are met. Information about accessibility can often be found on their website.

What is the policy regarding food and drinks?

Typically, you can purchase food and drinks at the cinema's concession stand. Outside food and drinks are usually not permitted inside the auditorium. Prices at the concession stand can be higher than those you might find elsewhere, so factoring this into your budget is a good idea. Some cinemas allow you to bring in water bottles only.

What about 3D and IMAX screenings?

Several cinemas, like Cinesur Yelamos, offer 3D and IMAX screenings. These screenings provide a more immersive cinematic experience, but also come with a higher ticket price. The availability of 3D and IMAX films changes regularly, so it's best to check the cinema’s schedule online.
